Vieques Island Town vs US NAVY Bombing RangeFriday, May 30, 2008 Vieques Island Town vs US NAVY Bombing Range= During 60 years the United States NAVY operated a live munitions bombing range in the small island town of Vieques, Puerto Rico. For a year the bombing ceased as hundreds trespassed into the bombing range camping there acting as human shields. Local and international pressure for the permanent en to bombing exercises on the island materialized in 2003. The land is still now under Federal Government through US Fish and Wild Life.
